Steel wall pool
Steel wall pools are a perfect start for anyone who has always dreamed of having their own pool in the garden. For the hot days in summer, steel wall pools offer the right cooling, but are also perfect for swimming.
The steel wall as well as the pool liner usually consist of a 0.4 mm thick steel or PVC layer. More solid steel-walled pools with a water depth of 120 cm or more consist of a 0.6 to 0.8 mm thick steel shell and a 0.6 mm thick inner liner. The pool liner protects the steel shell pool from external influences and potential damage. A wider handrail provides stability and additional safety. Inexpensive entry-level models into the world of steel shell pools differ due to a thinner steel layer as well as inner liner and the need for dismantling during the winter months.
The steel wall pool becomes stable when filled with bathing water.
Steinbach's wide product range extends from the low-cost entry-level model to the high-end version of steel wall pools, which are available in round or oval pool shapes. Which pool shape you choose depends on your personal wishes and needs. Round pools and oval pools are equally in demand and popular. Round steel wall pools primarily fulfil the function of cooling down. However, swimming in a circle is also possible with a diameter of 5 metres or more. So you can also do your laps with a round pool. Oval pools, on the other hand, can be set up in a more space-saving way due to their elongated, sometimes rather rectangular shape. If you are looking for a swimming opportunity in your own garden, oval pools offer the perfect solution. With the right pool accessories, especially the counter-current system, nothing stands in the way of endurance training.
Swimming is a whole-body workout and a good way to compensate for the strain on the back caused by long periods of sitting.
The right substrate for the steel wall pool
Depending on the model and preferred water depth, steel shell pools can be installed sunken (completely), semi- sunken (partially) or free-standing. A certain amount of preparation time must be allowed before the steel shell pool is installed in order to prepare a suitable installation site. The installation site must be able to withstand the weight of the filled pool in all weather conditions. A stable and level surface is essential. If possible, a distance to trees should be maintained, as these can grossly contaminate the pool with falling leaves, needles, etc. If this is not possible due to a lack of space, the pool must be set up on a level surface. If this is not possible due to lack of space, pool covers and tarpaulins offer a remedy as they prevent coarse dirt from entering.
Note that pool water can also leak and this must be taken into account when choosing the space to avoid damage.
For free-standing steel-walled pools, make sure that the pool - but this depends on the model - is either on a fleece or on a paved surface. Paved surfaces prevent the water from seeping into the ground and can be made of a variety of materials such as concrete, asphalt, gravel and the like. Free-standing pools are mainly round pools, but an oval pool does not always have to be built in.
Oval steel shell pools also need a lateral support structure to ensure stability. When installing oval steel shell pools completely in the ground, retaining walls on the long sides and a foundation plate are a prerequisite.
Please note that you must allow a certain amount of preparation time for a complete or partial earth installation as well as for the construction of a paved area.
Attention!
Pools with a depth of 150 cm must be installed at least 60 cm deep into the ground. The pool wall must be statically protected against earth pressure.
Tips for maintenance, cleaning and safety of steel wall pools
The round and oval shape of the pools have the advantage that they allow cleaning by vacuum cleaners and pool robots without any problems, as they do not have any corners that are difficult to reach. The automatic pool cleaners remove the dirt independently.
For clear and clean bathing water, you need a powerful filter system that corresponds to the size - and therefore the water content - of your pool. This means that the larger the pool and thus the capacity, the more powerful the filter system must be. Hook-in cartridge filters are therefore more suitable for small pools, while larger pools should generally be equipped with a filter system (Sand or Steinbach Filter Balls). For more information on the different types of filters, please read on in the section on pool technology.
For the correct water treatment, i.e. the right pH value, disinfection and other chemical aids, please continue reading under Pool Care.
Not only the appropriate pool technology, but also pool accessories are important for the care of the pool and for your safety. The use of a non-slip safety ladder makes it easy to get in and out of the pool. Stronger pool liners are initially associated with higher costs, but are characterised by their durability and tear resistance.
